HOKIE HAVEN BEST GUESS LIST

Who's going to end up in the 2018 class? Here's my latest take:

There probably won't be quite as many signees in the class as are listed here, but the staff NEEDS a lot at a few positions (OL, CB), and seems intent on more than it seems they need at a couple other spots (TE, LB). It'll be interesting to see which guys get squeezed out.

As always, it's a snapshot of right now, so expect plenty of twists and turns (especially at a spot like OL where all you can do is shrug and guess right now) before all is written in stone.

Tunnel Talk EXTRA: Commit on the way?

Wednesday night, VT wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins caused a stir with a simple tweet:
Login to view embedded media That certainly sounds like a new commitment for the Hokies, especially with the "Start Jumping" reference that many on the staff have used when there's a new member to a Hokie recruiting class.

So who is it? Fans speculated that Wiggins was referring to D.C. defensive tackle Cam Goode, since the three-star has made no secret that VT is atop his list since offering, and has hinted toward a decision soon. We can confirm (as we shared yesterday) that Goode is not the player that Wiggins is referring to. In fact, the player on the verge of making a public commitment is one that will be more exciting for fans.

What's the hold up? A source indicates to us that this particular player "wants to keep it very quiet until he decides to announce." Exactly when that announcement will come has not been decided yet, though the Hokies are expecting to have a bit more public knowledge of the good news within the next few days. It could come as early as this afternoon, and it would be a surprise (though only a small one) if we had to wait longer than the middle of next week to share the news. It's clear Wiggins jumped the gun a little bit on his tweet - though not to a degree that will jeopardize the commitment - but it's understandable given his excitement.

As is policy around here (and generally in the Jamerson Athletic Center), we're not going to spoil the news for a kid who wants to keep things on the DL until he figures out exactly how and when he wants to announce - though Wiggins' recruiting territories can provide some hints to that. I'll also let you know if the timing passes such that "impending commit" is downgraded back to "eventual commit," but as stated above, the expectation is that the kid follows through in the short-term.

VT vs Notre Dame

I see in Richmond paper that VT will play Notre Dame on September 1, 2036. Scheduling a game 19 years in advance is totally stupid.
In my opinion VT nor any ACC school should never play Notre Dame, (in any sport). The Golden Dommers think they are above normal NCAA policies and the NCAA allows them to do as they please.. The NCAA has 3 sets for rules:

1 for Notre Dame
1 for Big 10
1 for other 323 schools.

If ND is going to have anything to do with a conference, they should join Big 10. having ND in ACC is beyond stupid.
