A couple recruit quick-hits

Those I've talked to thus far are very high on what the experience was like Saturday - no surprise, given the atmosphere and result in a 49-0 victory. Nothing imminent with any particular kid, but VT acquitted themselves well.

I haven't talked to either official visitor (MI DB Donovan Johnson and NJ DB Harrison Hand) just yet - they must be ducking me, haha - but my opinion coming into the visit was that the Hokies could cement themselves as the favorite for Johnson, and those around him indicate that pretty much happened. He's no done deal, but other schools will have their work cut out as long as VT continues to want him.

It was a bigger visit day for the 2018 kids, and they're naturally a little farther away from decisions, but one 2017 who seemed to have a great experience was NC DT Xach Gill. He wants to check out the in-state schools before really narrowing to a final list, but would like to make his college commitment around the end of his season. VT has put themselves in nice position there, as well.

More to come, with full articles rolling in the morning.

Greetings from Boston...

Hi fellas: I'll be making my first trip to your fine campus for the BC game Saturday after next. While I'm a BC alum a fan for sure, I'm a CFB fan above all else so prefer to sit good seats with Hokie fans to talk some ball, get the full experience of what Hokie football is all about. Have always had Lane on the bucket list, so I'm damn excited.

Any info you all can provide in the way of:

1) Okay to wear away colors in VT sections of the stadium? We'll be time, odd group coming with, the old lady and my mom. Haha. (Don't ask). ;) I've heard nothing but great things about Hokie fans, so I'm assuming I don't have much of a chance of having beer poured on me intentionally? Just looking to hopefully avoid that sort of nonsense.

2) What's the best row height in your opinion? Looking around seems CC may be slightly too flat, but AAA may be a bit removed? If you've ever been to Alumni my tickets are front row of the uppers and I love that height/angle.

3) What's the parking situation like, what do you recommend? When do you recommend I ideally arrive at said parking? I like to be in the stadium 45mins to an hour before kickoff.

4) Vending? Good stadium eats? I've heard of legendary turkey legs. Where does one obtain these things?

5) What do I need to see/do prior to going inside Lane? Walk through campus? Timing/location of the Hokie walk? Band entrance?

Thanks for any of the above you may decide to tackle for me.

In the meantime, have a look at my CFB website www.15Saturdays.com to get a sense of who I am and for the love of all things good and holy, please take down those cream sickles and their gym teacher HC in the BatB!!

**New** (From yesterday, so maybe **Old**) Ricky Slade article

I chatted with the top in-state back about the future of his recruitment. Feeling very good about VT here still, though today's visit to Penn State gives the other school high in his recruitment a chance to make a statement (fortunately for VT, that statement may very well be "we are not as good as Temple at intercollegiate football").

**Tunnel Talk Extra** Big Ten commit still looking at VT

Toms River (N.J.) North athlete Bryce Watts committed to home-state Rutgers back in March, but the Hokies aren't giving up on the three-star.

While he's comfortable with his Rutgers commitment - and anticipates being a Scarlet Knight come National Signing Day - Watts is willing to listen to what the Hokies have to say. The 6-1, 165-pounder can be a wide receiver or cornerback in college, and the latter is definitely a position of need in this class for VT.

He's not actively exploring his options, but thanks to the Hokies' persistence in recruiting him, there's a possibility that he takes an official visit to Blacksburg later this Fall. If the two teams' respective seasons go as it looks like they might (Rutgers settling in as one of the worst Power-5 teams in the country, Virginia Tech looking like a top 2-3 team in the ACC Coastal), there's a chance for the flip down the road.

For the time being, it's just a situation to monitor for fans, but this could develop into more.

Bizarre unis suck!!!

Maybe it's subconscious... IDK.. I'm not a psycho analyst. But we didn't play VT football because we didn't look like VT football. EVERY time we put on a non standard "VT" uniform we play like dung!! To hell with the weird unis, just stick with what gets us to he dance - Orange and Maroon. The unis last Sat were UGLY!!.... black and snot... totally colorless. We have the best color combo in the country and we abandon it on the big stage. You don't see Bama doing that crap, or Penn St, or USC, or any other program with character...
