Guys, I just talked earlier with 2017 four-star DT
Fred Hansard, who just picked up an offer from VT today, his ninth overall. Hansard transferred from Camden Catholic (NJ) to Hun School (NJ) last fall and reclassified from the 2016 class.
It sounds like that move has proven very beneficial so far. He didn't have many looks before, but now has Ohio State, Miami, Iowa and others.
With VT, Hansard said he actually visited in December. He said it was for a junior day, but I believe it was for one of the official visit weekends the Hokies had for their committed guys. Others visited, too, but it wasn't officially a junior day. But Hansard said he loved seeing the construction on the new facility, meeting the coaches and also seeing the players' lounge.
Assistant coaches Charley Wiles and Cornell Brown actually visited Hansard at school today to make the offer. Hansard said he likes both and they've told him how much they like and want him to be a Hokie. Hansard said of VT, "They're definitely a team I'll stay with."
Right now, it sounds like Rutgers might have a slight advantage, if any of them do. Hansard said he's been quite a few times, as it's only about 30 minutes from his home. He said the DL coach, Jim Panagos, has the best relationship with him than any other coach.
No visits set yet, but Hansard said he wants to see as many of the schools that have offered him this summer as he can, like North Carolina, Miami, Iowa, Arizona State and Penn State. The Nittany Lions are the only one that has not offered, which is also something to watch.
