As I'm working on film review...

The official scorers for the Hokies don't do the stats any favors when it comes to sacks (and I've noticed this in previous games, too). Twice in the first 20 minutes of the game, a sack went down as a Jones "rush for loss."

Somebody needs to brush up on the official scorer's handbook in the worst way. That's not OK (and not just for VT - it throws off the accuracy of stats for everyone they play, national rankings for people they don't play, etc.).

Tunnel Talk EXTRA: Other people's commits?

Virginia Tech is a hot name with a couple of prospects who are (or at least have been) committed elsewhere.

We start with Ashland (Va.) Patrick Henry two-star safety Kaleb Smith. He committed to Wake Forest over the Summer, but has been keeping his options open a bit. Recently, he changed his Twitter bio to remove any reference to the Demon Deacons, and instead added "VT commit." That seems meaningful, yes?

Smith hasn't responded to multiple requests for comment, nor have sources on the VT side of things been forthcoming (which can mean different things in different situations: this situation is one where it probably means something is up). Our sources in Winston-Salem indicate that the Wake coaches do consider him a non-commit, and they believe that he'll be a preferred walk-on in Blacksburg. We'll keep pursuing official word from Smith himself, but if it comes to fruition, stealing a kid who had a scholarship offer to a fellow ACC school - without having to use a scholarship - is a big deal.

The other is a second in-state player committed to a Power-5 school: South Carolina commit Jesus Gibbs. A two-star offensive lineman out of Potomac (Va.) Dumfries, he took an unofficial visit to Blacksburg for the Duke game, and interest from VT's end is ramping up in a major way.

The 6-4, 280-pounder knows that the Hokies need offensive linemen, and while he hasn't picked up an official scholarship offer yet, he may be willing to jump on one the instant it becomes official. Like DC St. John's three-star Josh Jefferson, he's waiting on the opportunity to arise. With Jordan McFadden taking his official visit last week (and all going very well there - the Hokies still need to wait out his Clemson official, though) and solid commits in John Harris and post-grad Christian Darrisaw, with a potential pledge from tackle Luke Tenuta on the way, both these guys are probably waiting to see if McFadden jumps ship to get the full and committable offer.

Jefferson has long looked like the next man up, but Gibbs throws a wrench into the works (and as an SEC commit he naturally holds a more impressive offer list than Jefferson). VT isn't done looking at NC State commit Gabe Gonzalez either, but the Wolfpack's strong season likely helps solidify him there.

Stay tuned for further developments.

My son will be a Hokie in August!

Greetings, proud to advise my youngest will be a VT general engineering freshman in the fall, looking to major in Aerospace Engineering.
I have never had a second favorite college football team before, and am looking forward to becoming more familiar with and following the Hokies. What are the prospects for this season? My son is quite anxious to get his season tickets.
Have never attended a game at VT, and my wife and I are hoping to make a couple of games this fall. Any tips on how to get tickets, game day traffic, where to park for game, what the tailgating scene is like, places to eat and stay would be very much appreciated, Have already looked at hotels on Orbitz, and appears to be the same situation as State College during a game weekend, ie, hotels do some serious price gouging. As we will be traveling to and from Blacksburg on 81, we can consider accommodations to the north.
Thanks in advance and look forward to spending sometime here at the Hokie Haven!!

Whats up Hokies! Lets talk..

First and foremost I got nothing but respect for your football program. You guys got swag!

This game means a lot for the ACC, for the first time in a while. Our program was down but Coach March Richt has revived it and we are ahead of schedule.

I see Coach Fuente did the same, yall look more complete.

We finally have this game at home! For you guys going youll love the revamped stadium. I hope no injuries in the game, but I am definitely picking my canes, yall know we got flaws, we know you guys got flaws, but I like my boys.
