You never know (particularly at a program that's not gonna have tons of stability), but sounds like the Hokies aren't gonna be the ones to get much traction with 2025 S Carson Lawrence. That's particularly true with Marcellus Barnes no longer in the fold.

Ok, so we made it through the season and are now on to bowl prep. Who do you have as players that may enter the portal looking for better opportunities? Assuming we don’t lose anyone from the two deep and hopefully a few (Tuten, Lane) stick around another year other than ones that run out of eligibility. Add in a good 2024 class and top it off with a few portal transfers and we’re off to the races for next year.

Murfreesboro (Tenn.) RIverdale cornerback Jaylen Thompson was slated to be in town over the weekend. He'll instead take his official visit Dec. 2 (along with a handful of the Hokie commits who have not taken their officials yet).

I would not expect him to end up at Michigan State, though he's currently a soft commit to the Spartans. Virginia Tech is one of a few schools in pursuit, and with an official visit date set, will have a chance to make a serious statement to seal the deal.
