Blackshear

Read an interesting article on another VT site today. The writer indicated Mike Young was still very much in contact with Blackshear and family, and predicted VT would be the eventual landing spot if he does not remain in the draft. By virtue of not receiving an invite to the draft combine, it is unlikely Blackshear will be drafted, according to the writer. If he opts to remain in college, Blackshear can go just about anywhere he chooses, including blue bloods such as Kentucky and UNC, But, the writer believes the Blackshear family will ultimately decide VT is his best option. At VT he would be the focal point around which the offense will be built, allowing him to more fully showcase his talents to NBA scouts. At a program like Kentucky he would just be one of many pieces without the same opportunity to shine individually. I'm not sure I buy all that, but perhaps the door is not completely shut on a return to the Hokies. Tim, you've been pretty adamant in the belief that Blackshear in no way returns to VT. Anything new that you're hearing that maybe cracks open the door for a return more so than previously thought?

Basketball Recruiting

Has been very quiet on the recruiting trail the past couple of weeks. We still only have six scholarship players available for 2019, not counting Bede and Blackshear! Several priority targets have committed elsewhere recently. Do we have any traction with anybody?? I'm surprised we haven't pulled a single person from the transfer portal, other than Aluma who has to sit out 2019. Its getting really late in the game to be sitting on just six scholarship players at this point in time. With so much immediate playing time available and the initial recruiting energy generated by the new staff, I thought for sure we would have several more prospects already in the fold by now!
