As I said when CJ Scott committed, picking up preferred walk-ons from some of these power programs is always helpful, even if they don't contribute on the field. You want the top prospects at those schools to see familiar faces and opportunity in Blacksburg to provide a boost when the time comes for them.

Question re: New linear ACC Network

So I called Comcast today to see if they planned to offer the new ACC Network TV channel. The agent I spoke too seemed clueless about it and could not find anything about it in their future programming plans. I don't know if the guy I spoke too was just an idiot or if in fact Comcast has not signed on to carry the new channel when it launches in August. I had seen elsewhere where Verizon Fios plans to offer it along with Direct TV, Hulu, and a host of other providers. I did not see Comcast listed, which prompted my call to them today. Do any of you who have Comcast Cable know anything as to whether or not it will be available??

Hokies will certainly want to change this status

(That's in reference to Georgia coming in to land five-star DC St. John's linebacker Mekhail Sherman last night). For a long time, it was tough for national programs - particularly SEC schools, which don't typically have the same academic draw for kids from good academic/athletic high schools - to penetrate the DMV. Ohio State and Alabama started to chip away at it, and now there's basically open season for anyone.

Hokies have to re-establish themselves as a team that everybody has to beat if they want a prospect from the DMV. They don't have to be the program, even, just a major contender for top talent (and Sherman is just the latest in a long line of top-ranked kids who committed to out-of-region programs without even having VT on a shortlist).
