K-State fan here - was talking to a friend about our similarities and it's legit

I've seen on message boards before someone calling us "Virginia Tech west" over the years, and didn't really look into much, but finally did after a friend of mine who is a VT alumni and I discussed over the weekend. No doubt VA Tech has outperformed under Beamer over Snyder, but the comparisons are something to note. Not just the fact we are both labeled "little brother" to KU and UVA....

Here is what we found:

Both dual-threat QB systems, known for playing solid defense with a great run game.
Both have recruited Juco ranks heavily under Beamer and Snyder over the years.

Beamer: 238-121 since 1987 as VT coach (has not coached since 2015)
Snyder: 220-110 since 1989 as K-State coach (did not coach 2006-2008)
Both win %'s of 66%

Beamer: 6 11 win seasons
Snyder: 7 11 win seasons

Beamer: 7 conference titles, and VT played in one natty and lost
Snyder: 2 conference titles, have not made it to a natty

Both have had bad bowl records:
Beamer at 8-10, Snyder at 9-10

VA Tech: played in 7 BCS quality bowls under Beamer, winning 2 (95 and 08)
K-State: Played in 3 BCS quality bowls under Snyder, winning 1 (97)

VA Tech: Michael Vick, 3rd in Heisman, dominated the sport in late 90s
K-State: Michael Bishop, 2nd in Heisman, dominated the sport in late 90s

LB Javontae Jean-Baptiste talks Buckeyes, TAMU, Huskers, VT & BC

Story: LB Javontae Jean-Baptiste talks Buckeyes, TAMU, Huskers, VT & BC

Jean-Baptiste picked up offers from Ohio State and Texas A&M this week and has a busy schedule ahead with visits to Nebraska this weekend and Ohio State next weekend. Prior to these new offers and the offer from Nebraska that came over the dead period, Virginia Tech was the clear leader for Jean-Baptiste but now they'll have to hold off these new contenders. The one that should concern the other teams is Ohio State. Jean-Baptiste has wanted that offer for a long time and, if Ohio State will take his commitment, it wouldn't be surprising to see him end up there.
