Steal of the draft

I think everyone on here knows how high I've been on Kendall Fuller as a natural, instinctual football player since I first saw him play as a freshman in high school. There's always been something about the way Fuller just sees things others don't on the field that has intrigued me. So I think it's great he's staying local with the Redskins and I think they may have gotten the steal of the draft if he recovers fully from his surgery. Jalen Ramsey is a better athlete, I get that, but Fuller has a much better sense of the game than guys like Vernon Hargreaves, Eli Apple, Artie Burns, etc and he's more physical and a better tackler than a guy like William Jackson III. I didn't expect him to land in round one, but pick 84 behind guys like James Bradberry, Keivarae Russell (who will be a safety) and Daryl Worley? Please. And Cyrus Jones, a holding penalty waiting to happen, went off at No. 60 the range I expected Fuller to land.

It will be fun to follow his career as yet another Fuller heads off to the NFL for success.

*** Some good stuff on a couple of Virginia Tech prospects from this weekend

This comes from our regional analyst, Adam Friedman.

On Carter Warren of Wayne, NJ, one of the top 60 offensive tackle prospects in the country:

North Carolina, Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia Tech and Rutgers is Carter Warren's lead group right now. He visited Maryland and Virginia Tech for their spring games. Warren wants to visit Tennessee and North Carolina this offseason. He is hoping for offers from Alabama, Notre Dame and Louisville but doesn't really want to go too far from home for school. Warrenn will take official visits before committing.

Also ...

Virginia Tech and Tennessee are two of the most recent offers for 2018 RB Iverson Clement. He visited Blacksburg for the spring game. Florida made a big impression on him when he visited and he really wants to visit again. Offers from Maryland, Kentucky, Rutgers and Boston College also caught Clement's eye. He wants offers from schools in the Big Ten and Big 12. Clement would like to visit Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State and West Virginia.

Adam posted a video interview of Warren talking with our national recruiting director, Mike Farrell, in this feature.

NCAA & Ole Miss

First off, if Hugh Freeze hasn't lost control of that program then I don't know what control is. Two sure fire top players at their position fall to the end of the first round because character issues.

As for Tunsil, he admitted to taking money to pay his mother's electric bill. That's on top of the already known improper benefits he received & served a 7 game suspension for... Which IMO should have warranted much more aggressive punishment from the toothless NCAA infractions committee. Tunsil has already admitted to:

"receiving the use of three loaner vehicles over a six-month period without payment; a four-month, interest-free promissory note on a $3,000 down payment for buying a used vehicle; two nights at a local home; an airline ticket purchased by a friend of a teammate; and one-day use of a rental car."

Spring practice is in the books after Virginia Tech's spring game Saturday. An impressive number of fans turned out for the game, but what were our biggest takeaways? Did we learn anything more about the quarterback battle and other starting positions? The Hokies did suffer a setback earlier in the week when defensive end Houshun Gaines and cornerback Adonis Alexander were indefinitely suspended by Virginia Tech for off the field incidents Saturday night. What will come of those suspensions and how will they affect the Hokies? Plus, recruiting continues to be a hot topic, with a number of top targets on hand for VT's spring game. How can we assess the Hokies to this point?

Best new feature of Rivals updated site

Now that everyone has had time to get accustomed to the updated site, I'm sure everyone has things they like or don't like. One thing I definitely like is that no matter how old a thread is, if a new post has been added, then that thread goes to the front, and is highlighted so that you know there is new info.

As a case in point, a while back we were "discussing" the career of Marcus Davis. About two weeks after the thread had died, I made a final post which I am sure no one saw because back then you would have to scroll back multiple pages to see the post, which I'm sure nobody ever did.

My last post on that particular subject was " It wasn't Marcus Davis I was thinking about, it was DJ Coles. Oops."

Anyway, just wanted to clear that up before I go. My subscription runs out soon, and I will be moving on. Actually, I thought I would give the Scouts site a try. I have enjoyed my time here with all you guys, and I hope some of you might think about coming on over to Scouts also.
