Buzz Williams, Coach of the Year?

Dino Gaudio was on ESPN last night with his picks of the season in the ACC and he gave coach of the year to ........ Roy Williams ?! What? Make no mistake, UNC is loaded(again) and has had some under performing games this year(check out the UVA/UNC game last night). Who should be Coach of the Year in the ACC?My pick is Buzz with Josh Pastner coming in second.

With all the Hokies adversities and lack of inside presence, I think Buzz has done the most with what he has had this year. Especially with Tech's continued success with Clark going out. Pastner has made Georgia Tech competitive with lesser talent than most and they have gotten better all season. Any other thoughts on this?

At the early part of the year, I thought it might be Leonard Hamilton, but FSU has hit a slide here recently and they look more undisciplined than in the beginning of the ACC schedule.

Dwayne Cohill/2018 guard

Buzz Williams will be in this evening for top-100 2018 Holy Name guard Dwayne Cohill. He visited campus as recently as two weeks ago where he then received an offer. Would say the Hokies are heavy in the hunt for him. Has become a better shooter in recent months but is best as a playmaker and scorer on the attack; Ohio native is a Buzz type of guard

Selective recruiting

It appears we are sending out more offers than ever, and casting a wider blanket for recruits. I get the concept that the more offers that go out, the more possibilities of landing bigger fish. However, at what point do we begin to selectively recruit, instead of just getting a class full of 3* or less recruits. 4* and 5* would lead the way with offers, with the exceptions being those in camps that have really impressed the coaches. I believe we could offer the 3* later down the line and still get them, if we miss out on the bigger recruits. Thought?

Signing day

Overall a very good class but disappointing that we didn't land any guys today that were on the fence. Can't see how we could lose Becton to Louisville of all places. We're back in the top 25 but we need to be in the top 15 or better if we want to win the ACC. We are losing too many kids to out of state schools who will end up disappointed that they made a bad choice because they listened to some slick recruiter's hype.
Fuentes did well for his first full year on the recruiting trail and hopefully next year he'll bring home more in-state kids once he builds relationships with coaches in Tidewater, Richmond, Northern Va and D.C.

**New** Hokies landed one of the top safety classes in 2017

...mostly on the strength of reeling in Devon Hunter, from the nation team's Rob Cassidy:

I don't think the two guys listed are likely to be the only safeties in this class when all is said and done. Too many unspecified athletes (Hezekiah Grimsley, Bryce Watts among them, though both of them are more likely to be corners, and of course Grimsley will get a shot at WR, his preferred position).
