Guys, I just spoke with Collins Hill (Ga.) four-star DE Tomon Fox, who visited VT officially this weekend. He's currently committed to North Carolina. This is a kid who we have been all over. I have seen little to no mention of him elsewhere but I've been posting about him here for about a week and a half.

As a refresher, Fox is teammates with VT three-star LB commit Emmanuel Belmar. Assistant coach Torrian Gray was at Collins Hill visiting Belmar a couple of weeks ago when he was approached by Fox, who asked if the Hokies would be interested in him. Gray told Fox to visit and they had planned to visit last weekend, but obviously had to reschedule because of the snow.

I'm gonna start off by saying that the odds of VT flipping Fox are extremely high after this visit. Fox and Belmar visited VT together, along with Fox's father. Fox told me everything about the visit "caught my eye." They were both hosted by redshirt freshman OL D'Andre Plantin, who's originally from Norcross (Ga.), about 30-40 minutes from Collins Hill. Fox said he also sat down and talked extensively with assistant coach Charley Wiles and that they watched film together. "He gives them space to work with," Fox said. "I can myself fitting in there pretty well."

For now, Fox said he considers himself still committed to North Carolina. He said "nothing has changed" with his relationship with the Tar Heels and that they're still close.

Now, though, Fox is down to deciding between UNC and VT. It sounds like Belmar is working Fox really hard. Fox said of Belmar, "Emmanuel don’t shut up," Fox said laughing. "He tells me that Blacksburg is the place to be."

The plan is for Fox to fax in his letter of intent early Wednesday morning but not announce his decision until 2:30 pm. My guess is that will be moved up, since the Hokies are having a signing day press conference at 1:15.

VT looking good here. Might be the best odds of getting another four-star addition at this point. And would be a steal from an ACC rival no less.

***INsider: Coney Durr Update 1.31***

Guys, I've got another update on Dutchtown (La.) three-star cornerback Coney Durr, who officially visited VT this weekend. Again, he's been committed to Minnesota since Dec. 13, after an official visit there.

I spoke to Durr extremely briefly earlier today, like a minute, as he was boarding a plane home. He told me he would call back when he landed. I haven't heard from him, but that's because Durr has been busy tonight.

First off, I had heard from a source that Kansas State, whom he chose Minnesota over, was trying to get back in the picture. I don't think that has changed much from when Durr told me two weeks ago he was down to Minnesota, VT and North Carolina.

The big update here tonight is that late this afternoon, I'm told UNC's coaches gave him an ultimatum: they wanted to know if he was in there or out by tonight. This came from our friend Matt Hatfield, who covers UNC recruiting for our Rivals site there, TarHeelIllustrated.com. Hatfield confirmed about an hour ago that the Tar heels are now out of the running. We're not sure if that means Durr told them he's not going there, if he doesn't like the ultimatum or what.

That said, it appears it's down to VT and Minnesota. And after his visit this weekend, which the Hokies' staff feels went very well, the odds have big time trended up for VT here. Another guy who will decide on signing day, so it will be worth keeping an eye on.

***INsider: Emmanuel Belmar On VT Visit***

As always, what's posted here, STAYS HERE. Don't de-value your own subscription by giving away information to others who don't pay like you do. It's also a violation of our terms of service and will result in the termination of your subscription.

Guys, I actually spoke to Collins Hill (Ga.) three-star LB Emmanuel Belmar at the same time I spoke to his teammate, four-star DE Tomon Fox earlier. They visited VT officially together this weekend and passed the phone off to each other.

I feel like I have one of the strongest relationships of anyone in the class with Belmar and that's a HUGE reason I knew Fox was visiting when I did, well before anyone else seemed to know. Belmar is also a big reason why Fox is interested to begin with. Belmar told me earlier: "I work hard to try to get him to go there. He’s gonna get home and talk about it. I think his dad enjoyed it."

As far as Belmar himself, he said he thoroughly enjoyed the visit. He told me he never really considered anyone else, even with the coaching change. Belmar talked about the family environment because he's been so many times, including for unofficial visits this past fall to the Ohio State and North Carolina games.

Belmar is VERY high on the new staff and talked about how he feels like the program is going to quickly turn back around and be competing for championships again. My favorite quote was when Belmar called coach Justin Fuente "An intensified Beamer."

Belmar said his host, like Fox, was redshirt freshman OL D'Andre Plantin. The three of them hung out quite a big and Belmar said he really sat down at length with Fuente, defensive coordinator Bud Foster, assistant coach Torrian Gray and assistant coach Charley Wiles. They watched a lot of film together.

Not a huge update here as Belmar is still 100% on board with VT. But the update is that he might be the biggest reason why Fox is looking more and more like he could flip from his North Carolina commitment to the Hokies.

Guys, just confirmed from our friend Chris Peak at Panther-Lair.com that Lafayette (Va.) three-star LB Chase Pine has changed his mind yet again. He did not visit Maryland yesterday and at least for the time being, does not plan to be at VT this weekend. We'll see if that changes again. The Hokies are expected to visit him again at the first of the week. Still a chance they could talk him into a visit this weekend, but we'll se.

***INsider: Wells/Powell On VT Visits***

Guys, just wanted to provide an update on two more visitors over the past couple of days, Raines (Fla.) four-star wide receiver Rick Wells and Hannibal (Mo.) three-star OL Dylan Powell. Both left VT around lunch today.

I had trouble getting with Wells for much of the afternoon. He actually called me back about 20 minutes ago, but he was already at Florida. We spoke very briefly, but as I've mentioned before, I didn't do a full interview because he's already on an official visit with the Gators. He got there a couple of hours ago or so.

Wells told me it was good seeing his friend, Isaiah Ford, who was also his host. He told me "Everything is still good" with the Hokies. I have a good feeling about this one for VT, but a lot depends on how the next two days at Florida go. No decision expected until Wednesday on signing day.

I also spoke with Powell about 30 minutes ago. He was sitting in the St. Louis airport, where he was set to board a flight a few minutes after we talked for Phoenix, then San Francisco to go to his official visit at Stanford. Obviously because Powell wasn't on a visit, we spoke much more at length.

Powell told me he felt like he got to see and do a little of everything at VT. He told me, "I was really impressed. I already know Hokie nation is a close family." Powell said he obviously saw how all the offices and everything in Merryman is still pretty gutted, but was impressed with what the final result will look like.

Powell was hosted by OL Billy Ray Mitchell. Powell said he also spent an hour or more just sitting down and talking with assistant coach Vance Vice, who sees Powell as a center. Powell said he feels like the calls are pretty easy to pick up, which he liked. He also spoke about an hour with coach Justin Fuente, which he liked. You guys should like this quote from Powell: "I was really impressed. It exceeded my expectations. They’re gonna be competing for championships and that definitely excited me."

At Stanford, Powell said he's looking to see how comfortable he is and if he fits in. He didn't go into a lot of detail, but said he's just looking forward to seeing everything. The thing to note here is that he now plans to announce his decision Tuesday instead of Monday. He said he now needs another day to talk with his family. Like Wells, this is another one who I think is leaning towards VT after his visit, but we've gotta wait and see how the next two days go for his visit out at Stanford.

***Ty Pigrome On Visit***

Guys, I just spoke a few minutes ago with Clay-Chalkville (Ala.) three-star athlete Ty Pigrome, who wrapped up his official visit to VT a little less than two hours ago. He's literally about to take off on his next flight from the Roanoke airport to Maryland for his official visit there today through Sunday.

Pigrome said he enjoyed his visit to Blacksburg. For anyone who has heard him speak, you know he's not much of a talker. But he did say he enjoyed "chilling" with the other players and recruits who were there and also he liked touring campus and the facilities.

Pigrome told me that he had extensive conversations with assistant coach Holmon Wiggins, his primary recruiter, offensive coordinator Brad Cornelsen and coach Justin Fuente. Pigrome already knew how they planned to use him in the offense, but said the three of them watched a lot of film to illustrate how Pigrome would be used as a true athlete on offense at all the skill positions, as well as some quarterback. After seeing everything, Pigrome called VT a "power offense." I get the sense he was impressed with what he did see.

Again, Pigrome is going straight to Maryland now for a visit. The Terps have offered him a chance at the starting QB spot, so interesting for sure to see how that visit goes. He told me the main thing he's looking for is the comfort level that he feels. And I get the sense right now that he's most comfortable with the Hokies going into his Terps visit.

He still plans to announce on signing day between VT, Maryland and Tulane.

So literally, VT will be dropping guys off in Roanoke at the airport who are currently visiting and will be waiting there a few minutes to pick incoming visitors up.
