Christian Darrisaw now a four-star

Prep school players finally got their rankings today, and Adam Friedman was impressed with what he saw from the 2017 signee (now a 2018 prospect for VT):

That puts VT within distance of Washington for No. 12 nationally with another good commit, and Henry (should he pick VT, which still doesn't sound like the most likely outcome) would take them to No. 9 nationally as things stand today.

***** On Anthony Grant...

On Grant, you are not going to get much, if anything directly from him when it comes to recruiting until a final decision is made, but I have been hearing a lot of chatter behind the scenes about Virginia Tech.

He was on his official visit over the weekend and things went very well. He feels more of a priority right now for VT than he does Tennessee, the school he is still committed to.

Based on what I am hearing, there is a real chance he flips to the Hokies sometime after Christmas. I am not ruling out a public decision before then, but based on what I got after doing to checking on Sunday, it looks like something could/will happen late in December or early in January.

Grant himself told me last week that he will sign this week, and I was told by a good source Sunday night that, that is still his plan.

On Braxton Clark...

In case you didn't see our network story yesterday:

...Justin Fuente has been pretty clear that prospects who don't sign in the early period this week won't be considered commits anymore. That doesn't mean VT will stop recruiting them on principle, but a player of Clark's status in the class is not going to have a whole lot of leverage in that situation. Of course, it should come as no surprise that Clark's decision not to sign won't be entirely his own (he's been sort of on the fringe of the class even since he committed, almost a placeholder guy while the staff went after prospects they wanted more - many of whom they landed).

He's going to have plenty of time in January to look at other options, and if his letter ends up going to VT on the traditional Signing Day they first Wednesday in February, it will be because they Hokies see that they have an extra spot or two to fill. At this point, I wouldn't expect that to happen, though.
