Guys, I just spoke a few minutes ago with Columbia (Fla.) two-star WR
Latrell Williams, who picked up a VT offer Dec. 16. He's been committed to South Florida since Dec. 8.
Williams told me he feels like he's "mostly" done with his recruitment. He really likes USF assistant coach
Ron Dugans, in large part because Williams felt like Dugans has been the only coach to be honest with him about where he stands and the work he still needs to do.
For the first few minutes Williams and I talked, he danced around being interested anywhere else and kept going back to, "I feel like it's too late if someone comes along. If they came early in the season, then maybe." But towards the end of our conversation, Williams finally told me he's planning official visits next month to USF, VT, Iowa State and Western Kentucky. But he didn't want to give me any specific dates.
With the Hokies, Williams said he's spoken multiple times with new assistant coach
Holmon Wiggins. Williams said, "There’s interest, but it’s gonna be hard to get me out of that (USF commitment). When it comes to that, it’s mostly, I would say it’s the atmosphere and being in a different place other than Florida." But there's obviously enough interest that he wants to visit VT. It sounds like the Hokies are trying to get him to visit either Jan. 22, when
Rick Wells, Jaquan Bailey and others visit, or Jan. 29, the final visit before national signing day.
Williams isn't giving away much right now. But he did give away that he has interest and if VT can get him to visit, it certainly has a chance. The Hokies are looking to take at least a couple more wide receivers.
